Want to be active and stay in shape? Forget the gym! Sailing is a unique sport because it allows people of all ages to participate, even at a competitive level! With this in mind, the Pointe-Claire Yacht Club Sailing School encourages the development of adult sailors through it's group and private lessons. Dinghy lessons are offered at PCYC for those wanting a more dynamic and active experience in a sailboat. Courses are taught on Collegiate Club FJs and Club 420s by our Sail Canada certified instructors.
Cegep and University Students
New this year, we are launching a program for PCYC students who are over the age of 18 and want to keep sailing. Athletes will expand the skills and technical abilities they learned throughout their previous summers at PCYC.
Practices take place during the summer and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and on Saturdays during the fall from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Each session is made up of 18 hours of training, divided into 6 blocs of 3 hours, students can sign up for as many sessions as they like. CANSail 1 is a prerequisite.
If you want a learning experience that more personalized and tailored to you needs, are private lessons have you covered! These lessons consist of theory lessons and a one-on-one on water session with a professional instructor. After three lessons, you should be able to sail around a small course with little to no assistance from the instructor. All courses are three hours long and can be scheduled at your convenience.
